‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Trailer Reveals The Reason for Maggie and Negan’s Arrival in Manhattan
The trailer for The Walking Dead spin-off Dead City comes just one week after a teaser which saw Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan momentarily put their differences aside to fight a mutual foe.
“The Walking Dead: Dead City follows the popular Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror,” the official logline reads.
The trailer, set to Iggy & The Stooges “Gimme Danger” reveals the reason for Maggie’s descent on Manhattan. Hilltop was raided and they took Hershel. And the man who took him? Negan knows. Croat — played by Željko Ivanek — is the season’s antagonist. Differences aside, Negan has a problem of his own as he’s being hunted by a character played by Gaius Charles. So, they team up with a band of characters that know all about how to navigate the island. “We gotta find a way out,” Maggie says, as a clip of her being swarmed by some kind of mega monster walker ends the trailer.
Dead City is part of a slew of new projects on The Walking Dead slate, which also includes the Daryl Dixon series set to premiere later this year and the limited series centering around Rick and Michonne that will reunite Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln.
The Walking Dead: Dead City releases June 18 on AMC.
