Amazon Studios’ adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s smash hit novel Red, White & Royal Blue has a release date! The studio announced today on their Twitter and Instagram that the film will premiere on August 11.

Fans are eager for a peek at the movie, as other than a few behind-the-scenes shots on social media from the film’s stars Taylor Zakhar Perez (The Kissing Booth) and Nicholas Galitzine (Cinderella), filming has been kept well under wraps.

Red, White & Royal Blue follows Alex Clairmont-Diaz as, following his mother’s election as President, he becomes America’s first Mexican-American First Son of the United States. Along with his sister June and friend Nora, Alex quickly becomes the focus of the country’s media, who immediately portray him as the American equivalent of a young royal. Unfortunately, Alex has a longstanding feud with an actual royal — his transatlantic counterpart, Prince Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor of England. When a tabloid newspaper publishes a photo of Alex and Henry in a messy altercation at a royal wedding, US/UK relations go swiftly downhill. The pair are forced to embark on a fake PR friendship designed to smooth relations between their countries. Initially, they see each other as enemies and could not be more different, but as time goes on, Alex begins to realize that his strong feelings about the prince don’t run in quite the direction he expected …

Directed by Matthew Lopez of Broadway’s The Inheritance, the movie stars Perez as Alex, Galitzine as Henry, as well as Stephen Fry, Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Uma Thurman, Ellie Bamber, Aneesh Sheth, Polo Morin, Ahmed Elhaj, and Akshay Khanna.

Red, White & Royal Blue stormed the bestseller lists in 2019. The movie was announced in 2021. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are producing for Berlanti/Schechter Films, with Lopez, McQuiston, and Michael McGrath serving as executive producers.
