The FOMO is real as Star Wars Celebration kicks off today in London, but for the sake of those of us sitting at home, the convention weekend began with Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase, which offered several pieces of news about what’s in store for the franchise.

While we still have quite a long time to wait, we now know that the second season of the hit Disney+ series Andor is slated to make its way to Disney+ in August 2024.

Andor sees the return of Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, exploring a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy. The series focuses on Cassian’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy explained that they’re nearly halfway finished with filming the second season, which is due to wrap in August. Lucasfilm also revealed a first look at footage from season 2 for the crowd on-site.

While the first season of Andor took place five years before the events of Rogue One, the 12-episode second season is said to cover the remaining four years leading up to the film.

The entire first season of Andor is now streaming exclusively on Disney+. Catch up on all of our episodic recaps here.
