E3 2023 Event Has Been Canceled

According to a report from IGN, E3 2023 has been canceled amidst a number of video game publishers announcing they will not attend. The 2023 event was to be the in-person return to the event, the last occurring in 2019.

The cancellation news comes from an email sent by ESA, the owners of E3. The event was set to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in mid-June, the 2023 event also marks the first for its new organizer — Reedpop.

It was announced in January that the video game big three — Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft — would not be in attendance. Following this announcement, numerous other publishers backed out of the event, ultimately leading to the cancelation.

According to IGN, the email sent states that E3 2023 “simply did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength, and impact of our industry.”
