The CW’s Gotham Knights has cast one of DC’s most infamous villains, Joe Chill.
Chill is set to be played by Doug Bradley, the actor best known for his spine-tingling portrayal of Pinhead, the main antagonist of the Hellraiser movie franchise. Bradley has a long history of “chilling” movie roles and is also known for his voice work on games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic and Dead by Daylight.
In the DC Comics world, Joe Chill is noted for being the villain who murdered Bruce Wayne’s parents, gunning them down and inadvertently setting into motion the creation of Batman. Chill has been rotting on death row for 50 years and is scheduled to be executed. But Gotham’s notorious “Patron Saint of Bad Guys” is not about to let his secrets die with him.
Chill is confirmed to be appearing in episode 6 of Gotham Knights.
Producers Natalie Abrams, Chad Fiveash, and James Stoteraux released this statement:
“When casting the iconic role of Joe Chill, arguably the man who created Batman, there was only one name we considered … Doug Bradley. We needed an actor with the kind of gravitas that would do justice to such a seminal character in DC Comics canon. And who better to embody the role of the classic Gotham fiend than the man whose legendary portrayal of another classic fiend — Pinhead in the Hellraiser franchise — continues to terrify generations of horror fans?”
Gotham Knights is set to premiere on March 14, 2023 on The CW.
