Another guest appearance is brewing. According to Entertainment Weekly, the one and only Ruth Connell will be reprising her role as Rowena MacLeod on the Supernatural prequel The Winchesters!
Rowena was a Supernatural fan favorite early on in her introductions with her wily personality, witchy talents, and immaculate fashion choices. As the show progressed, she grew from an enemy of Sam and Dean Winchester to a reluctant occasional helper to a close ally. The witch even sacrificed herself in 15×03 “The Rupture” to help Sam, Dean, and Cas close the rift to Hell — and subsequently made herself the Queen of the realm down below.
Whether the Rowena of the 70s will be friend or foe remains to be seen, as at this point in the timeline, she hasn’t been reformed in her ways by the brothers Winchester and Crowley. Her character description reads, “A natural-born witch with immense power, Rowena has been outwitting all who wish her ill since the 17th century — even death itself. Be it magic, vengeance, or a fine vintage wine, Rowena always gets what she wants — and no friend or foe can stand in her way.” What exactly does she want? We’ll have to tune in to find out.
Ruth Connell will appear in the penultimate episode of The Winchesters (episode 12), which is set to air on February 28 back in its normal timeslot. Following the train of previous guest stars from the mothership comprised of Gil McKinney as Henry Winchester, Richard Speight, Jr. as Loki (and also Gabriel? Remains to be seen at the moment), Rob Benedict as a member of The Elastic Waste Band member Tango (also remains to be seen if this was a Chuck cameo or not), and of course Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, who knows who else might show up — especially since Robbie Thompson has been teasing guest-appearances for a while now. Only time will tell.
The Winchesters airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on The CW. You can find our other coverage of the show here. Additionally, be sure to check out On The Road Again, Nerds & Beyond’s podcast covering all things The Winchesters!
