A first-look image for the upcoming film adaptation of Michael Farris Smith’s novel of the same name, Desperation Road, has been revealed by Deadline, featuring a shot of stars Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound, Tulsa King) and Mel Gibson (Braveheart).
Desperation Road tells the story of ex-con Russell Gaines (Hedlund), who attempts to rebuild his life with help from his father Mitchell (Gibson). But when Maben (Willa Fitzgerald) arrives and throws Russell’s life into chaos, the pair end up on the lam. As their violent pasts catch up to them, the pair must learn to trust each other if they hope to live out the rest of their days
The film also stars Ryan Hurst, Woody McClain, Pyper Braun, Ella Thomas, and Kat Foster.
Signature Entertainment will be presenting footage from the film to buyers next week at the European film Market.
Desperation Road is directed by Nadine Crocker with a screenplay from Michael Farris Smith. Both Crocker and Smith serve as producers alongside Cassian Elwes and Walter Josten.
