Seattle loves Matt Maeson. For blocks around The Showbox, his music could be heard blasting from stopped cars of fans gathering before the show. The venue was packed for his sold-out show, opened by the South Carolina-based group All Get Out. When Maeson’s set started it was not a surprise that the crowd was shouting every word back at him, well-versed in both the newer songs and the old.

Maeson mentioned getting over being sick but brought plenty of energy and emotion to his performance. He shared stories with the audience including how he wrote Hallucinogenics, his most popular song on Spotify, when he came back to his Seattle hotel room at 6 a.m. after a regretful night at the end of his first tour, put on Moana, and had a Xanax and whiskey.

Maeson’s US Never Had to Leave Tour goes through November 19th and he will be going on a European solo acoustic tour in February 2023.
