During this year’s New York Comic Con, HBO Max has revealed the voice cast of its upcoming series Velma. Constance Wu, Sam Richardson, and Glenn Howerton have joined the cast as Daphne, Norville (AKA Shaggy), and Fred, respectively. They follow the previously announced Mindy Kaling, who voices the title character.

The show has also added a slew of guest stars in currently unknown roles, including Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Stephen Root, Gary Cole, Ken Leung, Cherry Jones, Frank Welker, ā€œWeird Alā€ Yankovic, Fortune Feimster, Yvonne Orji, Sarayu Blue, Nicole Byer, Ming-Na Wen, Shay Mitchell, Debby Ryan, Kulap Vilaysak, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Velma acts as a prequel series that follows its titular character and dives into her origin story before the Mystery Inc. Gang. While earlier iterations of the character have been more family-friendly, this version is aimed specifically towards adults.

Charlie Grandy acts as showrunner and executive producer, with Kaling, Sam Register, and Howard Klein as executive producers. The first season will be 10 episodes and is set to premiere sometime in 2023. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
