TELEVISIONNETFLIX'Heartstopper' Announces Four New Cast Members as Season 2 Begins Production

Netflix’s smash hit teenage romantic drama Heartstopper has started production on Season 2. The series, based on Alice Oseman’s bestselling graphic novels of the same name, also has four new cast members lined up for the latest season, in addition to the beloved returning cast from the original season.

Heartstopper is an acclaimed love story between high school students Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor). The show follows a core group of friends and fellow students who are navigating love and life in their teenage years, and most of the cast have already been confirmed to be returning for Season 2. Familiar faces include Connor, Locke, Yasmin Finney as Elle, William Gao as Tao, Sebastian Croft as Ben, Corrina Brown as Tara, and Kizzy Edgell as Darcy.

Nick’s older brother David will be portrayed by up-and-coming talent Jack Barton (The Letter for the King, War of the Worlds). During Season 1, David was away at university, which explains why we haven’t see him on screen yet. In the books, David was not happy to find out that Nick and Charlie were dating.

Nima Taleghani, a British stage actor who has appeared in Cyrano de Bergerac, will play Mr. Farouk. A science teacher at Truham Grammar School for Boys, Mr. Farouk is a colleague (and more, assuming the show remains true to the source material) of Mr. Ajayi, the much-loved art teacher played by Fisayo Akinade.

The character of Sahar Zahid, a student at Higgs Grammar School for Girls, was cast after a nationwide call in the UK. Sahar will be played by newcomer Leila Khan.

And finally, an unnamed student from Season 1, portrayed by newcomer Bradley Riches, has been upped to a named character for Season 2. The character will be James McEwan, who appeared in the third volume of the graphic novels during the Paris truth or dare scene.

Alice Oseman was very much at the helm of Season 1, writing every episode, and she returns to do the same for Season 2.
