Everyone’s favorite sadistic goth is back. Wednesday Addams, played by Scream‘s Jenna Ortega, is the titular character of Netflix’s new show coming out this fall about the Addams Family, re-imagined by Tim Burton. Check out the teaser below!

The trailer shows Wednesday at her new school Nevermore Academy. Her signature dark, deadpan humor is on full display. The show has been described as a coming-of-age, and the trailer, while showcasing classic Tim Burton magic, also seems reminiscent of Netflix’s Sabrina supernatural reboot.

Via Netflix, the official logline for Wednesday reads:

“The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

The streamer also unveiled a first look at the family in a tweet:

Fans were also delighted about Christina Ricci’s involvement, announced in March 2022, in an undisclosed role. Her original take on Wednesday’s character in the 90s was so popular that fans started an online petition for Ricci to be cast in the new show. Fan-favorite Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, The Sandman) also stars and appears in the trailer. Stay tuned for more of our coverage!
