The Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) has released the nominations for its second annual TV Awards, recognizing a wide variety of television achievements across streaming platforms and broadcast/cable.

HBO’s limited drama series Scenes From a Marriage has left its mark on the list with five nominations.

  • Best Broadcast Network or Cable Limited or Anthology Series
  • Best Actor in a Broadcast/Cable Limited, Anthology Series or TV Movie – Oscar Isaac
  • Best Actress in a Broadcast/Cable Limited, Anthology Series or TV Movie – Jessica Chastain
  • Best Writing in a Broadcast Network or Cable Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Movie – Hagai Levi “The Illiterates”
  • Best Directing in a Broadcast Network or Cable Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Movie – Hagai Levi “The Illiterates”

Scenes From a Marriage, which is written, directed, and executive produced by Hagai Levi, is a modern adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s classic Swedish miniseries. It follows the story of Mira (Jessica Chastain), a confident, ambitious tech executive left unfulfilled by her marriage, and Jonathan (Oscar Isaac), an accommodating, hyper-intellectual philosophy professor desperate to keep their relationship intact. The series flips the script on traditional gender roles to explore love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage, and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple. All five episodes of Scenes From a Marriage are now streaming on HBO Max.

The second annual HCA TV Awards will take place on August 13 (broadcast & cable) and 14 (streaming).
