After the announcement that Tom Blyth would take on the leading role of Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Lionsgate has officially announced Rachel Zegler as his co-lead! The film is a prequel to the hit Hunger Games franchise and based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins.

Zegler will play Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute in the 10th Hunger Games who Snow is forced to mentor — and develops an unlikely relationship with. While Snow was previously played by Donald Sutherland in the original trilogy, Lucy has never been portrayed onscreen before. Zegler can also be seen in Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White film and Shazam! Fury of of the Gods. She is best known for her breakout role as Maria in West Side Story.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to hit theaters on November 17, 2023.
