In a move that will have fans screaming around the world, Netflix has renewed smash hit, coming-of-age queer romance Heartstopper — for two more seasons!

Fans were vocal clamoring for a season 2 renewal, taking to social media in droves. While season 1 gave Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) a heartwarmingly satisfying resolution, there were definitely a few characters that audiences were dying to see more of, such as Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney)! This renewal news gives plenty of time to develop those characters, as well as Nick and Charlie’s new relationship, with the care they deserve.

Given Heartstopper‘s 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s no surprise that Netflix jumped to get more screen time for these beloved Truham and Higgs students. With the show occupying a spot in the streamer’s Top 10 for three weeks and exploding on social media, it just makes sense to give fans what they want!

Writer Alice Oseman, the creator of the original comics that Heartstopper is based on, has already been confirmed to be sticking around to write seasons 2 and 3. If the show continues to follow the comics as closely as the first season did, season 2 and beyond will mean see the characters heading to Paris, new love interests, and several other new storylines (which eagle eyed viewers will have seen the seeds of even in the first season).

The exact episode orders for the seasons has not been announced, but given the 8-episode order for season 1, fans will be hoping for at least that, or more, for each of the new seasons.
