Mentally Broken

Everything has changed for Simone since coming back from fall break. She’s reeling from her emotional breakup with Jordan that happened in this week’s All American, hiding it from her aunt and her friends. The awkwardness continues for Simone and Damon as they are respecting each other’s boundaries.

To distract herself, Simone focuses on her tennis match and her classes. Damon notices something’s off with Simone and seemingly wants answers. On the verge of tears, Simone tells Damon that they both should continue to work on themselves and keep things the way they are. Damon reluctantly disagrees but is forced to come to terms with Simone’s decision.

Getting the Truth

The CW

In a flashback scene, Celine explains how Damon is her son to JR, who is still in shock by this reveal. JR feels as if he’s the reason his mom gave up Damon in order to raise him and take care of his aplastic anemia, a condition he’s dealt with since he was a child. It’s also revealed that Xavier was the sole reason behind Celine’s decision to give up Damon. Xavier told Celine to stay away from him after their affair and ended up raising Damon. Damon is in disbelief, realizing he’s been lied to his entire life by his father. Celine vows to be there for Damon, but he refuses.

Off the Rails

Coach Marcus’ behavior has been in question since he decided to throw his mood disorder pills away. He’s not his usual calm self, and everyone around him is beginning to notice. His paranoia is getting the best of him, and not in a good way. When Damon explains that he’s been going through family drama after a rough practice, Marcus scowls him to where Damon’s taken aback by Marcus’ outburst. He berates JR after JR declares that social media could be a good thing to boost his profile, leaving JR stunned. After mending fences, Damon and JR inform Amara about what’s going on with Marcus. They feel as if she’s the only one that can get through to him.

Amara confronts Marcus, in which he lashes out at her.

The episode ends with Simone and Nate having a “funeral” burying all of Simone’s memories of Jordan, with flashbacks of all their moments. Damon and Simone continue to avoid each other as Damon and Thea become an official couple. Amara learns that another college named Willis Cobb University is looking to merge with Bringston, which could mean Bringston would become extinct.
