‘The Guest 2’: We May Not Have a Film, but There’s a Soundtrack!
We may never get a sequel to Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s beloved thriller The Guest, but the nonexistent film now officially has a soundtrack.
That’s right. Fans of the cult classic can now revel in the mystery of what could have been with a 12-track album that fits right in with the original film’s killer soundtrack.
Artists on the new soundtrack include Ogre, Steve Moore, Majeure, Makeup and Vanity Set, Jordan F, Ghost Cop, Adam Wingard, John Bergin, Ainoma, Xander Harris, and Lone Runner.
Barrett, who wrote The Guest, confirmed that the soundtrack and the cover artwork (which comes from Dave Marrell) are based on his “actual, written-down sequel concept.” In the years since The Guest was released, fans have desperately hoped to see a continuation of the story — especially given the film’s open ending. If this wild-looking artwork is what Barrett had in mind, we’re all truly missing out.
Originally released in 2014, The Guest follows the story of a soldier who introduces himself to the Peterson family under the pretense that he was a friend of their son who died in action. However, after the young man is welcomed into their home, his presence becomes suspicious following an oddly coincidental series of accidental deaths. The film stars Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe, Brendan Meyer, Sheila Kelley, Leland Orser, and Lance Reddick.
Last year, Second Sight Films released a limited edition 4K box set version of The Guest, which is still available to order. And for those hoping to get their hands on merchandise for the film, Cavitycolors has got you covered.
