Netflix Renews ‘Never Have I Ever’ for Fourth and Final Season

Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is, sadly, coming to an end. According to Deadline, Mindy Kaling’s YA comedy has been renewed for one final season. The series will see a total of four seasons, with its third premiering later this year.

Never Have I Ever focuses on Devi Vishwakumar, a first generation Indian-American high schooler. Season 1 sees Devi return to school after the sudden death of her father. With the help of her best friends, she reacclimatizes to school. Devi also sets out to find a boyfriend. In season 2, Devi finds herself choosing between Ben and Paxton. Viewers also sees Devi’s grief manifest more intensely, and meet new key characters. Specifics on season 3 are still murky.

About the upcoming close to Never Have I Ever, Universal Television President Erin Underhall stated:

“Four seasons of ‘Never Have I Ever’ is truly exciting and a little bittersweet because, as a loyal fan, I’d love Devi’s journey to go on forever. But just like high school, all great things must come to an end. A big shout out to our fearless Cricket Queens, Mindy and Lang, and our exceptional cast and crew, who have authentically captured the emotional rollercoaster ride that defines our teenage years. We can’t wait to experience all of the messiness, the LOLs and the tears that will surely unfold in Devi’s senior year.”

Bela Bajaria, Netflix Head of Global TV, said:

“We are thrilled to have two more seasons of ‘Never Have I Ever.’ It’s everything we want in a Netflix comedy series: authentic, specific, funny, and full of heart. I love that a story I relate to so deeply – about a young, Indian-American girl – hits on so many universal truths that resonate with just about everyone. We’re eternally grateful to Mindy, Lang and the wildly talented cast. And we can’t wait for everyone to see the final two seasons.”

Never Have I Ever stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ramona Young, Lee Rodriguez, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Darren Barnet, Megan Suri, Jaren Lewison, and John McEnroe. Season 3 will introduce a new character, Des, played by Anirudh Pisharody.

Netflix has yet to set a release date for season 3. However, production has wrapped, and it’s expected sometime this summer. Season 4 will premiere in 2023.
