‘Kraven the Hunter’: Ariana DeBose Cast In Upcoming Sony Marvel Movie

West Side Story scene-stealer and Oscar nominee Ariana DeBose has joined the cast of Sony’s upcoming movie Kraven the Hunter, per Deadline.

Although unconfirmed, it is believed that DeBose will take on the role of Calypso. Calypso is a voodoo priestess who utilizes potions up against her enemies. In addition to being a recurring Spider-Man antagonist, Calypso is also the occasional partner and lover to the titular character for the film, Kraven.

Kraven the Hunter will be Sony’s fourth Spider-Man universe antagonist project, following two Venom movies and 2022’s MorbiusKraven will be directed by J.C. Chandor (Triple Frontier), with the screenplay coming from Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk.

DeBose joins a steadily growing cast list with Aaron Taylor-Johnson to return to the Marvel world in the titular role, Russell Crowe in an unconfirmed role, and the previously announced Fred Hechinger as another unconfirmed role (though it is believed he will take on Chameleon, Kraven’s half-brother.
