It’s Angela Bassett’s world and we are just living in it. Fresh off her Critics Choice Super Award nomination, Bassett has won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of LAPD Sergeant Athena Grant in FOX’s first responder drama 9-1-1.

The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the best of Black stories, culture and excellence in film, TV, music and literature. This year marks Angela Bassett’s second win in the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series category, having won in 2020 as well. 9-1-1 was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series but lost to Queen Sugar.
