Jennifer Akerman, also known as Final Child, has built up quite the anticipation for her upcoming album Monster, and she just released a brand new single and music video, “Dark Side of the Moon.” The album is a collection of 12 slick, moody tracks that evoke intense, passionate pop melodies together with 80s guitar solos. “Dark Side of the Moon” very much carries the dark, dance vibes we’ve experienced from previous singles.
The writing of the song carries emotional significance for Akerman, “I was very lost when I wrote this song,” she comments. “I had for the first time experienced depression and felt like I was stuck on the dark side of the moon. I had everything I wanted really and people who loved me, but I didn’t know how to get out of my dark cloud.”
The video evokes Akerman’s sentiments around her experiences while songwriting, cloaking her in darkness for much of the song. Check out the brand new music video directed by Chancellor Warhol below.
Akerman has yet to announce when the album will be released, but we’ll happily continue to wait for what is sure to be a killer album. The tracklist for Monster was released in 2021, and is as follows:
