Zendaya in 'Euphoria'/HBO

The new film Challengers has found its cast! Zendaya is set to lead the romantic drama, with Mike Faist (West Side Story) and Josh O’Connor (The Crown) playing dueling tennis rivals who are also competing for her affection. MGM released a synopsis for the film, which teases drama on and off the tennis courts.

“Tashi, a tennis player turned coach, has taken her husband, Art, and transformed him from a mediocre player into a world-famous grand slam champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she makes him play a ‘Challenger’ event — close to the lowest level of tournament on the pro tour — where he finds himself standing across the net from the once-promising, now burnt-out Patrick: his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend.”

Faist will play Art, while O’Connor will play Patrick. Challengers will be directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name). There is no release date yet for the project.
