To celebrate the film bringing in two Academy Award nominations, one for Best Editing and one for Andrew Garfield’s performance as Jonathan Larson under the Best Actor in a Leading Role category, the tick, tick…BOOM! team has treated fans to a very special behind-the-scenes clip.
Larson, who would have just celebrated his 62nd on February 4 this year, is most well-known in the musical theatre world for his creation of the socially impactful and emotionally moving production Rent. Rent is one of the most popular and successful Broadway shows to date, having ran for over 12 years at the Nederlander Theatre, inspiring a movie adaption and selling over 1.3 million copies of the original cast recording. Arguably the most recognizable song out of Larson’s impressive portfolio comes from Rent, “Seasons of Love”.
Some of the cast of tick, tick…BOOM! can be seen in this special behind-the-scenes clip singing the famous and beloved “Seasons of Love” in an emotional tribute to Larson and all of the labor of love he put into each musical he penned.
