Peacock has released the official trailer for the latest adaption of Stephen King’s famed novel, Firestarter.

Premiering May 13 on Peacock and in select theaters, Firestarter sees a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers fight to protect her family and herself from sinister forces that seek to capture and control her.

Charlie’s parents Andy (Zac Efron) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon) have been on the run for over a decade, hiding their daughter from a federal agency that wants to harness her gift to create a weapon of mass destruction. Andy has helped teach Charlie how to diffuse her power that gets triggered by anger and pain. However, the older she gets, the harder the fire is to control. An incident reveals the family’s location and they must protect themselves from being hunted, but Charlie has other plans.

The film also stars Kurtwood Smith (Amityville: The Awakening, Hitchcock), John Beasley (The Purge: Anarchy), and Gloria Reuben (Lincoln, Mr. Robot). Keith Thomas directed Firestarter from a screenplay by Scott Teems and produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and Akiva Goldsman for Weed Road Pictures.
