Are you a Disney fan? Are you the biggest Disney fan? Calling all Disney fans, big and small, because we finally have the first information for the biggest Disney event of the year, D23 Expo 2022, presented by Visa.
Nearly 100 years after Walt Disney opened his first studio in Hollywood, and aptly named in tribute, D23 Expo is “The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.” This weekend will celebrate the magic and excitement of Disney entertainment past, present, and future and kick off Disney100, the centennial celebration of The Walt Disney Company. This year, it’s taking place September 9th through 11th at the Anaheim Convention Center, right next to Disneyland. D23, the official Disney fan club, has announced important ticket sales information as well as first looks at artwork and events to look forward to.
Tickets
Tickets will go on sale Thursday, January 20 at 3 p.m. EST. There will be a 24-hour presale for Visa cardholders who are also D23 members on Wednesday, January 19 at 1 p.m. EST. Everyone who wants to purchase a ticket must be a D23 member, either at the Gold or complimentary level. Below is a breakdown of the pricing – you’ll notice that D23 Gold members get a discount on both single-day and 3-day tickets. And, if you really want to make sure you have the best seats in the house, preferred seating is available for D23 Gold members.

Convention Staples
Look forward to announcements from every division of Disney: Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Parks, and more. D23 2019 saw the reveals of everything from Raya and the Last Dragon to the Galactic Starcruiser. It’s also sure to be a star-studded event. Previous years have featured great guests such as Robert Downey Jr., Christina Aguilera, Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, and Angelina Jolie.
The massive show floor will be returning, filled with interactive experiences, shops, and exhibits. Along with the 7,000 seat Hall D23, there are also the 3,000-seat Premiere Stage, the 1,200-seat Backlot Stage, and the expanded, 700-seat Walt Disney Archives Stage for more presentations curated by the staff of the Archives.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a…. well, it’s a plane! Did you know Walt Disney had his own Grumman Gulfstream I company airplane? It used to be on display at the backlot studio tour at Hollywood Studios but has been sitting backstage at Walt Disney World since the park was remodeled and the tour was retired. Now it’s being restored and transported across the country, and it will be on display at D23 Expo 2022 for guests to see in an exhibit called Mickey Mouse One: Walt’s Plane presented by Amazon.
Calling all Cosplayers to the Mousequerade!
Also returning is the ever-popular Mousequerade costume contest. This year the contest will feature new categories including “Off the Screen,” “Imagine That!,” “Magical Mashups,” and “Cast of Characters,” as well as a fan-favorite award voted on by the audience and a “Best in Show” prize of $2,300. The event will be hosted by Nina West and judged by a celebrity panel including Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano and creator of Her Universe), Yvette Nicole Brown (Big Shot, Disenchanted), and Ally Maki (Toy Story 4, Home Sweet Home Alone). Complete rules for entry and details are available at D23Expo.com.
