Alexander Skarsgård Is Fierce in the First Trailer For ‘The Northman’

With this first look at the The Northman, director Robert Eggers is back with a vengeance! As the Northman himself, Alexander Skarsgård looks ready to take on anyone that would stand in his way. This ferocious and dynamic trailer will take viewers on a journey back in time.

The story of The Northman is a tale you may find somewhat familiar. The film begins with a young Viking prince living a happy life. Soon, this life is turned upside down when his father is attacked and killed by someone very familiar to him. After witnessing this betrayal, the prince has no other choice than to go into hiding waiting for the day he can avenge his father, save his mother, and kill his father’s murderer.

Fans of Shakespeare’s most popular tragedy Hamlet may be thinking, “I’ve heard this story before.” Director Eggers has taken inspiration from the original legend that actually inspired Shakespeare. After Eggers’ success with his past films The Witch and The Lighthouse, viewers can be sure that The Northman will be a unique experience. The trailer has given us some dynamic visuals that will have chills running down your spine.

This movie has a very interesting cast, to say the least, with Alexander Skarsgård in the demanding main role as the Northman. Joining Skarsgård will be Anya Taylor-Joy, William Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, Claes Bang, Björk, and Nicole Kidman. With so many of Hollywood’s heavy hitters bringing some notable mythological characters to life, this will no doubt be a movie to add to your must-watch list.

After watching this trailer, to say I am looking forward to this movie is an understatement. The ferocious vibes alongside such powerhouse performers will be amazing to see. The True Blood fan in me can’t help but point out the fact the Alexander Skarsgård, who played Eric Northman, is in a movie literally called The Northman as a Viking. Hopefully some other Eric fans are nerding out with me over this!

Fans can look for The Northman to be heading to theaters on April 8, 2022. Make sure to follow Nerds & Beyond to stay up to date!
