Outlander fans can look forward to taking another tumble back in time next spring when the series returns for season 6, the premiere date of which has now officially been confirmed as March 6, 2022!
Based on the book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander is an epic tale with far reaches into various genres, including romance, science fiction, history, and adventure. The series follows the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married combat nurse from the year 1945, as she finds herself mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 Scotland. Claire is forced to marry a chivalrous, young Scottish warrior named Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), and she soon finds her heart torn between two men across time.
The series also stars Duncan Lacroix, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, César Domboy, Lauren Lyle, and John Bell.
The end of season 5 saw Claire return to Fraser’s Ridge following her violent encounter with Lionel Brown. With the threat of the Revolutionary War looming over the ridge, Claire and Jamie must now choose what is best for their family.
As per STARZ, season 6 (which is based on Gabaldon’s A Breath of Snow and Ashes) is a “continuation of Claire and Jamie’s fight to protect those they love, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life in colonial America. Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task, particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina — and perhaps most significantly — during a period of dramatic political upheaval. The Frasers strive to maintain peace and flourish within a society which — as Claire knows all too well — is unwittingly marching towards Revolution. Against this backdrop, which heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie have built a home together at Fraser’s Ridge. They must now defend this home — established on land granted to them by the Crown — not only from external forces, but also from the increasing strife and conflict in the community within their care.”
