To infinity and …

During the Pixar 2021 Disney+ Day Special, Disney revealed that in 2022 a feature-length documentary will hit the streaming service about the making of the highly anticipated new film Lightyear.

The film is Pixar’s first-ever spin-off, exploring the origin story of the toy that captured Andy’s heart in the first Toy Story film, Buzz Lightyear. The filmmakers have described Lightyear as a film that Andy would have watched and in turn, wanted a Buzz Lightyear toy. It’s unknown if Buzz is a fictional or real-life person in the Toy Story universe, but either way, we’re about to see some incredible galactic action.

Chris Evans will voice the titular character, and it has been rumored that Taika Waititi may be joining his fellow Marvel alum and voicing Buzz’s sidekick.

Lightyear will release exclusively in theaters on June 17, 2022.
