It’s showtime, A-Holes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has begun filming, according to writer/director James Gunn, who shared a photo to social media to celebrate the occasion. Filming begins over four years after the third volume in the Guardians saga was first announced.
Alongside returning cast members like Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff, the above photo shared by Gunn also features two new faces to the Guardians franchise. Last month, The Maze Runner alumni Will Poulter was confirmed for the cast as Adam Warlock, a character who spans over five decades and is meant to be the pinnacle of human evolution. Also joining the cast will be Chukwudi Iwuji, who has already worked with Gunn for the upcoming Peacemaker series. Iwuji’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is unknown and will remain a mystery, for now, although speculation has of course begun across the internet.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently set to release May 23, 2023.
