The highly anticipated concert film Oasis Knebworth 1996 is finally due to make its exclusive premiere on Paramount+ later this month!
The streaming service has announced that the film will begin streaming in the U.S., Latin America, Australia, the Nordics, and Canada on Friday, November 19, and in the U.K. next year. Fans located outside of these markets will have an opportunity to watch it on MTV.
Oasis Knebworth 1996, which is directed by Grammy Award winner Jake Scott, celebrates one of the most iconic live concerts of the last 25 years and the special relationship between Oasis and their fans. The story is told through the eyes of the concertgoers, and features extensive and never-before-seen archival concert and backstage footage, plus interviews with the band and event organizers. In the words of Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming and Events, ViacomCBS and Chief Content Officer, Music, Paramount+, “This film will give audiences an all-access pass into these iconic concerts that defined an era and catapulted Oasis to legendary status.”
Between August 10 and 11, 1996, Oasis played two record-breaking nights at Knebworth. Over a quarter of a million young music fans from all over the world converged on Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire in England to see the legendary sets. Tickets for the shows sold out in less than 24 hours, subsequently breaking every U.K. box office record in the process.
“Knebworth for me was the Woodstock of the 90s. It was all about the music and the people. I can’t remember much about it, but I’ll never forget it. It was biblical.” — Liam Gallagher
Oasis Knebworth 1996 is produced by Black Dog Films for Kosmic Kyte Ltd. Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher serve as executive producers. It is financed and distributed by Sony Music Entertainment and was released in cinemas worldwide September 23 by Trafalgar Releasing.
