‘Fracture’: Jesse Jo Stark Stars in and Composes Music for Limited Drama Series
Singer/songwriter and designer Jesse Jo Stark will take part in a new venture for Channel 4 starring in the scripted drama series Fracture. Stark will star alongside Charles Melton (Riverdale), Tommy Dorfman (13 Reasons Why), and Ajani Russell (BETTY).
Directed by Bradley & Pablo, Fracture sees Stark as Mya, a young musician trying to find her voice and place in the world. Set in the backdrop of Le Rêve motel — a “dump” on the outskirts of LA — youthful dreams are made and broken in this coming-of-age drama with music as its beating heart.
The Creative Director of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing, is overseeing the project as it will double as the brand’s AW21 fashion campaign.
Furthermore, Fracture includes original music from Stark including “A Pretty Place To Fall Apart.” The song is written from the perspective of her character, Mya. The track charts themes of reflection and accountability. “A Pretty Place To Fall Apart” will release this Thursday. In a statement, Stark discussed the new single at length.
“loneliness can be beautiful. you find out a lot of weird things about yerself when yer left with only you. I wanted this tune to feel like that. with hopes of finding out and leaning into who you are and where you are in yer life. who yer meant to be. . love is sick.. and this is about all of it x”
The A Pretty Place To Fall Apart EP includes three other songs, “Not Your Little Baby Anymore” (written with Jesse Rutherford of The Neighbourhood), “My Favourite Game,” and “Fire of Love.”
Fracture will release with the EP on September 2. The series will premiere on All4 On Demand, with US and Global September dates to follow.
