Antonio Banderas Joins ‘Indiana Jones’ 5 Cast

The upcoming fifth installment in the popular Indiana Jones franchise will now feature Antonio Banderas in addition to its star studded cast.

Banderas joins Harrison Ford, who returns to the title role, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann in the film.

Although the theme park ride based on the earlier films has been a fan favorite for many years, this marks the first Indiana Jones movie to be produced under Disney. The adventure film began shooting in London last month, and plot details including Banderas’ role, are still thin on the ground but the film is currently set for a July 29, 2022 release.

Best known for his roll as the titular masked vigilante in The Mask of Zorro, Banderas earned an Oscar nomination for best actor for 2019’s Pain and Glory. However, many people may also recognize him for his roles in series like DreamWork’s Shrek and Puss in Boots or Spy Kids. He also played the antagonist in the recently released The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard alongside Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Salma Hayek.

She loves music, reading (obviously), and any TV show that can grab and hold her attention. Currently some of her favorite things to nerd out over include Supernatural, Prodigal Son, Louden Swain and Percy Jackson (books, theater, or upcoming show - lets leave the movies out of it).
