Anthony Mackie, Daniel Brühl, and Wyatt Russell Receive HCA TV Awards Nominations for ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’

The inaugural Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) TV Awards are rapidly approaching, and the official list of nominees has finally been revealed! The award ceremony will pay tribute to the best of television, and it will also be the first of its kind to separate broadcast/cable programming from streaming.

Disney+’s high-flying Marvel series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has garnered three nominations. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is an action-packed six-episode adventure that sees the return of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes as the two team up and embark on a global adventure.

Anthony Mackie has been nominated for Best Actor in a Streaming Series, Drama for his incredible portrayal of Sam Wilson as he finally stepped into the spotlight and took on the mantle of Captain America.

Daniel Brühl was an unforgettable addition to the cast of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, reprising his role as Captain America: Civil War‘s villain Baron Helmut Zemo. (Make sure to read our tribute to his unexpected comeback!) Brühl has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Streaming Series, Drama.

Finally, Marvel newcomer Wyatt Russell joined the series as the formidable John Walker, who was initially a successor to Captain America but is now known as U.S. Agent. Russell has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Streaming Series, Drama.

Sebastian Stan was unfortunately absent from the nominations for his portrayal of Bucky Barnes, who went through an emotional journey of healing and amends over the course of the series. The HCA TV Awards will take place in person on Sunday, August 22 in Los Angeles, California at the Avalon Hollywood. Meanwhile, the next HCA Film Awards ceremony is due to take place on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
