Angela Bassett Nominated for Best Actress at the BET Awards

Nominations are in for the 2021 BET Awards and a certain Los Angeles police sergeant is nominated! Angela Bassett, who plays Sergeant Athena Grant Nash in FOX’s first responder drama 9-1-1, is nominated for Best Actress at the awards.

Other contenders in the Best Actress category include Andra Day, Issa Rae, Jurnee Smollett, Viola Davis and Zendaya. Bassett was previously nominated for BET’s Best Actress Award in 2018. She has received nominations for her role as Athena for Black Reel Awards for Television, won two Image Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series last year and this year, and won for Best Actress in an Action Series for the Critics’ Choice Super Awards earlier this year.

Watch the 2021 BET Awards on Sunday, June 27 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on BET to see if Bassett takes home Best Actress! All four seasons of 9-1-1 are streaming on Hulu and season 5 is set to premiere this fall on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on FOX.
