Oscar Isaac Teases Role as Marc Spector for Disney+’s Upcoming ‘Moon Knight’ Series

Back in August of 2019, Marvel Studios announced one of its upcoming Disney+ series slated for future release: Moon Knight. Rumors about who would fill the shoes of Marc Spector ran rampant in the months that followed, and as recently as the December 2020 Disney Investor Day Presentation, Marvel and Disney still remained mum on the mysterious star.

One of the more popular rumors looked toward the talented, versatile Oscar Isaac—known for his hit roles in Inside Llewyn Davis and the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Back in January, Moon Knight cinematographer Gregory Middleton shared an Instagram post that seemingly confirmed Isaac’s role. This was later followed by an Instagram post by Isaac and wife Elvira Lind’s production company Mad Gene Media, showcasing Isaac doing intense fight training with an obvious Moon Knight reference in the caption “The One You See Coming.”

Now that paparazzi photos have been emerging while he actively films the series in Budapest, fans have eagerly been waiting for Marvel and Disney to make an announcement about Isaac. Today, Isaac himself took to his Facebook page to share his own official tease for his role as Marc Spector. The post can also be found on Mad Gene Media’s Instagram.

The photo has since been shared by Marvel’s official social media channels as well, so we can now look forward to finally seeing Isaac’s name attached as marketing for the series ramps up!

Directed by Mohamed Diab, Moon Knight is an action-packed adventure that features a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him are distinct characters who appear against a backdrop of Egyptian iconography. Originally created by writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin, Marc Spector’s first Marvel Comics appearance dates back to 1975. The Disney+ series will mark the first live-action iteration of the character.

Other known cast members currently include Ethan Hawke as a villain and May Calamawy in an undisclosed key role.

The release date of Moon Knight is currently unknown at this time. Stay tuned for more information.
