Anthony Mackie Wins Best Hero at MTV Movie & TV Awards; Mackie and Sebastian Stan Win Best Duo

The annual MTV Movie & TV Awards are officially in town, and the iconic golden popcorn statues are now making their way into the hands of the faces behind some of the best recent installments in film and television!

Marvel’s hit live-action series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was nominated for two awards this evening and unsurprisingly won both categories!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new Captain America himself — Anthony Mackie — took to the stage to accept the award for Best Hero. After his incredible performance in the series as he made an emotional transition from the Falcon to Cap, this was a well-deserved win.

And as for the Best Duo category, that went to Mackie and his partner in crime, Sebastian Stan. After building up the hilarious, witty, and snarky rapport shared by their characters over the years, Mackie and Stan took things to the next level with their team up in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is a six-episode miniseries that sees the return of Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Stan’s Bucky Barnes in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. The two must team up on a global adventure that tests both their skills and their patience with one another. The series includes some other familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well, like Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp, Georges St-Pierre, Florence Kasumba, and Don Cheadle, and new players including Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Adepero Oduye, Carl Lumbly, and more.

All six episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are now streaming exclusively on Disney+. Catch up on all of our coverage of the series here.

Stay tuned tomorrow night for the inaugural Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted, an event specifically geared toward reality TV.
