Merry and Pippin of our favorite fellowship are back!

Billy Boyd (Pippin) and Dominic Monaghan (Merry) of The Lord of the Rings are launching a brand new podcast, The Friendship Onion. Akin to other podcasts of late that are taking deep dives behind the scenes of some our favorite series, like Office Ladies, The Friendship Onion will transport us back to Middle-earth with two of our favorite Hobbits as guides.

Each week beginning on May 18 Boyd and Monaghan will test fans’ knowledge of the films, share some stories from filming, and possibly invite a few special guests that fans know and love.

The pair spoke to Deadline regarding their big new project, with Monaghan providing his ransom price, “I am contractually obliged to make a glowing comment here in regards to the podcast Billy and I are making together. This is proving difficult as Billy has abducted me and is holding me for ransom to the price of 44 bananas. Please, send bananas.”

Boyd was quick to defend himself, however, “Dom took a little persuading, it’s true, but this podcast is going to rock. He is such a joker, you have to love Dom. Ha … but you also have to love bananas, so …yes, send bananas.”

So grab your favorite pipe, some Longbottom Leaf, and a pint before you settle in and travel back to The Shire and beyond with Merry and Pippin. You can find The Friendship Onion on Spotify and all major podcast platforms, as well as on YouTube.
