Starting this summer, DC Comics will launch their new DC Horror line. This line will be launched with a limited series prequel to The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, entitled The Conjuring: The Lover.

The Conjuring: The Lover is a five-issue prequel series that will set up the events that will unravel in the upcoming movie, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It which will be released on HBO Max on June 4. The comics have been co-written by the movie series screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and author Rex Ogle.

The series will explore the tragic backstory of Jessica, a college freshman who returns home anxious about her love life and poor grades. “Jessica soon comes to realize that something evil has made her its target, and it will not rest until it has her in its unholy grip. But why did this sinister presence set its sights on a seemingly normal college freshman?” The series will also feature stories about Ed and Lorraine Warren’s artifact room. This is the perfect series for fans of The Conjuring movies!

The first issue will be available in comic book stores and on digital platforms June 4, the same day as The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is released. The second issue will be available July 2. Each issue will be $3.99, with a card stock variant available at $4.99.

Other DC Horror comics will be announced this July for release in October 2021 and will feature both new and well-known characters. Make sure you check back here for the latest news!
