Michaela Coel — creator, writer, director, and star of HBO’s I May Destroy You — is dipping her toes in the literary world. This September, Coel will release her debut book, called Misfits: A Personal Manifesto.

In the book, Coel will share deeply personal anecdotes about her life and her work, sharing her journey to reclaim her power and creativity. It will provide readers with an intimate look into Coel’s mind and also invite them to reflect on their own lives.

Along with I May Destroy You, Coel is well-known for her series Chewing Gum, which she also created, wrote, and starred in. According to Marianne Tatepo, the acquiring editor for Misfits, Coel will bring the same emotions and ideas she writes into her shows.

Misfits: A Personal Manifesto will release in the US and the UK on September 7.
