I don’t want it that way. NBC has announced that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be ending after its eighth season.

The comedy that revolves around a Brooklyn police precinct escaped certain death a couple of years ago after it was cancelled on FOX but picked up on NBC for a sixth season. In a heartfelt letter posted to the show’s Twitter, writer Dan Goor explained the motivation behind ending the show now, ending with a spin on one of the show’s longest running gags: “I’m grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape.”

While this news is undoubtedly sad, at least fans have one more season to look forward to. Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is set to premiere in 2021-2022 and will be comprised of 10 episodes.
