Netflix’s slate of original movies is expanding. Deadline exclusively reported that Austin & Ally alum Laura Marano and Prince Ali himself, Mena Massoud, will be starring in the newest Netflix romance flick, The Royal Treatment. Rick Jacobson is directing the film from a screenplay by Holly Hester. Marano will produce with mother, Ellen, and sister, Vanessa, for Calabrian Rhode and Chloe Smith.
According to Deadline, “The story follows Isabella and Prince Thomas. Isabella runs her own salon and isn’t afraid to speak her mind, while Prince Thomas runs his own country and is about to marry for duty rather than love. When Izzy and her fellow stylists get the opportunity of a lifetime to do the hair for the royal wedding, she and Prince Thomas learn that taking control of their own destiny requires following their hearts.”
This isn’t the first Netflix movie Marano has been in. She starred in the 2019 original film The Perfect Date, alongside Noah Centineo. She can also be seen in Saving Zoë, The War with Grandpa, and A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish. Massoud, meanwhile, will reprise his beloved Disney prince role in the upcoming Aladdin sequel, and was also in the Canadian drama series Open Heart, Amazon Prime’s Jack Ryan, and Hulu’s Reprisal with Abigail Spencer.
