Discover the Events That Inspired ‘The Crown’ in Netflix YouTube Videos, ‘Beneath the Crown’

We’ve all been there — guilty pausing episodes of The Crown to open Google and check whether an event really happened. Now you don’t have to! Netflix has released a series of YouTube videos entitled Beneath the Crown to give viewers an insight into the true stories that inspired season 4 of the hit Netflix show.
Season 4 of The Crown covers events from 1977-1990 and largely focuses on the marriage of Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin) and the rise and fall of Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson). The eight short videos, presented by broadcaster and journalist Anita Rani, give an insight into events such as Princess Diana’s childhood, Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s Australia tour, and Margaret Thatcher’s political demise.
