In the small fictional town of Dog River, Saskatchewan, Canada, there is an intersection. At that intersection is a diner run by Lacey Burrows (Gabrielle Miller) named The Ruby and Corner Gas station, where you can find Brent Leroy (Brent Butt) probably enjoying some chili cheese dogs.
Throughout the series of Corner Gas, those two are the primary locations where events, good or bad, tend to occur. From the live-action series that ran from 2004 to 2009, returning in 2014 with Corner Gas: The Movie, and 2018 to now but with the Dog River group have been animated, they have been a welcoming comfort and laughter to our lives. And on December 14, IMDb TV, Amazon’s free streaming service, will be the series’s exclusive United States distributor.
That’s right, Corner Gas Animated is on its way to the US, and they are bringing some gifts this holiday season starting with the first-ever holiday episode, “Tinsel-itis,” premiering on December 14. But wait, there is more. Fans can also unwrap Brent Butt’s first-ever single, the all-new original holiday song “Everyone Can Sing at Christmas.” The song is distributed by Universal Music and Hidden Pony Records. It is performed and written by Butt and co-written by Craig Northey, the frontman of Canadian rock band Odds, who performs the theme song.
Here is the official synopsis for the festive episode,
In “Tinsel-itis,” Brent and Lacey (Gabrielle Miller) go to great lengths to find each other the perfect Christmas gift. Hank (Fred Ewanuick) gets conned into helping Oscar (Eric Peterson) and Emma (Corrine Koslo) prep for their annual Christmas party, and Wanda (Nancy Robertson) goes to war with Karen (Tara Spencer Nairn) and Davis (Lorne Cardinal) over her extreme Christmas lights display.
