Watch the New Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Selena: The Series’
Netflix has dropped a new full-length trailer for its upcoming two-part drama, Selena: The Series, starring The Walking Dead‘s Christian Serratos as the late Tejano music star. Watch the trailer below!
Like the 1997 film Selena, the series, as depicted in the trailer, will focus on a young Selena, going through her teen years, early career, life on the road, backstage drama, and romance as her adoration by lighter-holding audiences. According to Netflix’s description, Selena: The Series explores Selena’s “journey from singing small gigs to becoming the most successful female Latin artist of all time – and the years of hard work and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigated together.”
Selena Quintanilla-Perez rose to fame at a young age by forming a band, Selena y Los Dinos, with her siblings and other bandmates. She quickly became the voice of Tejano music with her Live! Album winning Best Mexican/American Album at the 1994 Grammy Awards, which became the first recording by a female Tejano artist to do so. However, in 1995 at just 23 years old, Quintanilla-Perez was shot and killed by the President of her fan club, but her music still leaves a lasting legacy on Latin music today.
Selena: The Series also stars Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemí Gonzalez, and Seidy López and is executive produced by Jamie Dávila, Rico Martinez, Hiromi Kamata, Suzette Quintanilla, Siram A. Singh and Moises Zamora. Zamora also created the series.
Part one of Selena: The Series premieres December 4 only on Netflix!
