BTS are once again the Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards! Despite this being the fourth consecutive year in which the boys have been the recipients of this award, it has been made all the more meaningful considering the pandemic, which has lasted the majority of the year.

The group had to cancel their world tour and have expressed their heartache and frustration regarding their inability to see ARMY and perform live for them on numerous occasions. However, in spite of this, BTS worked hard to prove that regardless of any intervening circumstances they are more than capable of staying connected to ARMYA few notable mentions of this are the presentation of their speech of comfort and encouragement to youth around the world at the 75th UN General Assembly, and their online concerts: “BANG BANG CON The Live” and the recent “MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E,” providing a surrogate for fans who were unable to see them due to the unfortunate cancelling of their world tour. The group even released a new reality show BTS in the Soop, inviting ARMY to join them for a healing experience in the forest.

It is no surprise, then, that the group would claim Top Social Artist, and this notion was echoed in the sentiments of leader, Kim Namjoon (RM), in the group’s celebratory speech: “This award is living proof that no matter where you are, the ARMY, BTS, stay so closely connected, as always.”

BTS also took the stage to perform their Billboard No. 1 hit single “Dynamite” live from Incheon airport with a live band and choir.
