Anya Taylor-Joy, known for her role in Split and The New Mutants, has joined the cast of the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road spin-off, according to Deadline. Taylor-Joy will step into the title role, taking over the reins of Furiosa from Charlize Theron. Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will also star in the film, though their roles are not yet confirmed.
The spin-off is set to be a standalone film about the Fury Road character. It will track her story before meeting Max Rockatansky and the events of Fury Road. George Miller will return to direct. He will write and produce with Doug Mitchell.
