If you’re looking for a different kind of holiday movie to check out this year, fear no more — Holidate starring Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey is that movie.
Basically the opposite of the Hallmark channel, Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson (Bracey) despise the holidays. They constantly find themselves single, sitting at the kids table, or stuck with awkward dates. When they meet during a particularly bad Christmas season, they form a pact to be each other’s “holidate” for every festive occasion throughout the next year. With the pair sharing lots in common — their disdain for the holidays, assuring themselves it’s strictly friendly — they become each other’s perfect plus-one. But as the year comes to an end, Sloane and Jackson find sharing everything they hate quite possibly turned into something they love.
Holidate also stars Frances Fisher, Kristin Chenoweth, Andrew Bachelor, and Jessica Capshaw. The film is written by Tiffany Paulsen (Nancy Drew) and directed by John Whitesell (Big Momma’s House 2).
