Lou Diamond Phillips currently plays our favorite Lieutenant (and dad) Gil Arroyo on the FOX show Prodigal Son, but his impressive resume stretches several years before this show hit our televisions. Some of his most notable work includes La Bamba, Young Guns, and Courage Under Fire, to name a few. This man has immense talents in acting, directing, writing, and more.

Most recently, besides Prodigal Son, he wrote a sci-fi novel entitled The Tinderbox: The Soldier of Indira, based off the artwork of his lovely wife Yvonne Phillips. Lou sat down with Sci-Fi Talk‘s Tony Tellado to talk about all things Lou Diamond Phillips, including his newest endeavors.

Check out the podcast to hear the soothing voice of Phillips, hear him talk about the inspiration behind the book, his experience directing an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (as well as an upcoming episode of Prodigal Son), and more! Get your copy of The Tinderbox: The Soldier of Indira when it comes out October 20. Don’t forget to also check out Phillips on Prodigal Son when it returns for season 2!
