New ‘Star Wars’ Novel, ‘Poe Dameron: Free Fall’, Now Available!

The wait is finally over — author Alex Segura’s new YA Star Wars novel, Poe Dameron: Free Fall, is now available!

Originally announced earlier this year, Poe Dameron: Free Fall explores the backstory of hotshot Resistance pilot Poe Dameron’s teenage years. In Star WarsThe Rise of Skywalker, upon encountering the new character Zorii Bliss on the planet Kijimi, we learned that Poe used to be a spice runner (spice being a term for illicit substances) in the years before he enrolled in the New Republic Defense Fleet (and eventually defected to the Resistance).

Free Fall takes place a few years after Poe’s mother, Shara Bey, passed away. He and his father, Kes Dameron, are having trouble connecting. As such, a teenage Poe Dameron takes off, running away from home in the interest of finding adventure and figuring out “what kind of man he is meant to be.”
