Spinster, the anti-rom-com of the season is here!
The movie follows Gaby (Chelsea Peretti), who gets dumped by her boyfriend on her 39th birthday. She then goes on a journey of self-discovery, discovering who she is and wants to be. As she turns 40, she finds new dreams of empowerment and self-confidence. That all, of course, comes after Gaby goes on a dating spree, not wanting to spend the rest of her life alone. In the trailer, you can see Gaby getting more comfortable and happier.
Director of the movie Andrea Dorfman said,
“The film’s writer, Jennifer Deyell, and I wanted to turn the romantic comedy on its ear and make it less about chasing someone else and more about falling in love with yourself. The concept that women can’t be happy and alone at any age, but specifically in their 30s and 40s, is simply untrue. There’s beauty, and a lot of comedy, in forging your own path, and I hope that the film resonates with anyone in a similar situation.”
Spinster stars Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Susan Kent (This Hour Has 22 Minuets), Amy Groening (Backpackers), Charlie Boyle (Mr. D), Bill Carr (The Mist), David Rossetti (Trailer Park Boys), Nadia Tohen (Mr. D), and more.
