The landmark adult-oriented nighttime programming block Adult Swim, home to Robot Chicken and Rick and Morty, held their first Adult Swim Convention! The free virtual event began Thursday, July 23 and ran through Saturday, July 25.

During the virtual convention Saturday night, Adult Swim made a special announcement. They have teamed up with the world’s most popular anime brand Crunchyroll to bring anime fans and Adult Swim viewers an all-new anime titled Fena: Pirate Princess.

Fena: Pirate Princess follows Fena Houtman, a young orphan girl who spent her entire life living on an island with no hope of becoming anything other than a chattel. Fena will soon learn there is more than meets the eye when her mysterious past comes looking for her. Creating a new identity for herself, Fena will break her chains and free herself from her oppressors.

Directed by Kazuto Nakazawa (B: The Beginning, Kill Bill) with animation by Production I.G, Fena: Pirate Princess will be an Adult Swim and Crunchyroll Production. The new series will air on Adult Swim’s Toonami and stream on Crunchyroll in 2021. Be sure to watch the official trailer below.
